I Love Food Message: I've grown up to love and appreciate the food laid out in front of me. My family members love food as much as I do. Its just a pity that my appetite is not as big as theirs. But I do manage to eat a lot when there's really really good food. I love all kinds of cuisine but have a soft spot for anything spicy. I cook for myself when I have the time. I bake for my family. And sometimes its perfect, sometimes its not. I'm not a professional chef, but I do love cooking. The aroma flowing out of the kitchen door is always the best, whereas the aroma coming out of the toilet door after a satisfying meal is not my favourite. There's so much more to know about me. Guess you're just going to have to find out. More about me. It's Chinese Take Out Time Adventures With Chopsticks

Saturday, May 2, 2009 West 57th St. Cafe is a cafe opened by Zang Toi in a little corner in Parkson, Pavilion KL. Its a nice place to hang out and a lot of the ornaments on display are for sale. There were a few mirrors in the RM1000s (I meant RM2500s++++ up till RM6000+) on sale, and they were really pretty. I went there on Labour Day. After walking around for so much, Jacobson, dad and myself sat down whilst everyone continued to walk. This is the Iced Mint Tea. I found it too sweet and not minty enough. And I'm the kind of person who does not like mint. I think stronger mint taste and less sweetness and this drink would be very refreshing. If you want something more refreshing on a weekend afternoon, try this... Iced Fruit Punch Tea. There's a concoction of different fruits and its truly refreshing. What I like about it is that there are fresh orange peels and its not bitter. Its VERY refreshing and worth the money! And this beauty? I just have to give it two thumbs up!!! Its Pandan Cream Cheesecake. The pandan spongecake separates layers of banana and cream cheese, there are coconut shavings and topped with chocolate syrup. Absolutely sinful and delicious! Friday, May 1, 2009 It is pulut (sticky rice) with some santan (no, not satan. Its coconut milk) and stuffed with chicken floss. My new maid made this. Yummmmyyyyy-ness. =) Labels: home cooked, local delights, Snacks Thursday, April 30, 2009 Iced lemon tea. I liked this. It wasn't too sweet, wasn't too sour. I could actually taste the hint of tea and lemon. Lamb Shank. RM35. It wasn't fantastic, nor was it horrible. A little too plain though. Mash potatoes would have been better than fries. And the celery was not crunchy anymore =( Its soft and.... =S Spicy Chicken Rice. RM23 Not really spicy per se. My sis enjoyed the rice, but my mum said it tasted normal. The chicken was tasty and not too dry. Apart from that, the only complain was that the portion of rice is too little. Chicken Rendang Nasi Lemak. RM22 Mum didn't complain. She only said that the rice portion was too little. If you are to have the Nasi Lemak, I suggest you go at 10am to 12pm, they serve it at only RM12. Much more worth it... DOH! Anyway, I probably wouldn't go back there. Not my type of food. I mean, the taste and service. Kinda slow. I would still rather go to Sakura at Bukit Bintang. Nasi Lemak there is so much nicer. IMO, go to Aseana if you're hungry and have cash to splurge and don't mind overpriced food. Then again, its because of the location. Oh well.... Labels: asian, local delights, lunch, western Saturday, January 31, 2009 My mum's friend sent a hamper and there was this cake. She tried it and my siblings downed it all before John and I came back. And since its SOOOO delicious, mum got another four more. LOL! Love the packing! Super regal. Read read. Nice "message" :P Want to buy? Hehehe I advice you to. No no, I demand you DO because its just SUPER good and if you don't, you have no idea what you are missing out on. The world needs to taste good food like this! SO MOIST! So delicious. And what's even better.... hehehe. Cut yourself a brownie sized piece. Pop it into the toaster (my toaster is like a mini microwave kind). Heat it so that its enough to melt the chocolate and make the outside layer slightly hard, without BURNING it (like DING DONG BEL!) and top it with some VERY good ice cream. VANILLA!!!!!!!!!! Superrrrrrrrrrr duperrrrrrrrrrr good! Friday, January 30, 2009 Saturday, January 24, 2009 My western dinner. Once in a lifetime that the family prepares a full-fledged western dinner. On the rare occasions that we do have western food on the table, there will be other Chinese staples such as rice, clear boiled soup, stir fried vegetables or meat. This is the first time we had a 100% western dinner. We had, as shown above, roasted chicken. I know that in Western communities that the chicken breast is the best part of the chicken. But for the Chinese community, the drumstick is the so called "best". And I like both but normally prefer the breast meat over the drumstick because of the less skin/fat. So there was roast chicken, and as you will see later, there was mash potatoes *ultimate YUM!!!* and some vegetables. Dad roasted the chicken VERY well. It was tender and REALLY juicy. When I poked my fork into my piece, the juices squirted onto my shirt. I'm not entirely sure how he did it because he did it before I came back home. The mash potatoes is simple. Boil potatoes and then mash them up. Add some salt and milk and mix it up. If you want you may add cheese (but knowing the adults in my family, they wouldn't like it so much, so we left the cheese out) and if you like add some bacon pieces. Dad made this gravy that was SOOOOO good with the chicken AND the mash potatoes. I didn't need the gravy with the chicken because it was already so good on its own. Anyway, it was delicious to the max with the mash potatoes. I'm not sure what was in the gravy but I know for sure that there was minced garlic. The vegetables were very simple. Put it in boiling water for awhile and then remove. Add some butter and salt to it. And you're ready. Quite simple actually. So there you have it. YUMMY dinner. Labels: home cooked, western Wednesday, January 21, 2009 The following may cause uneasiness. This is good to eat when you have a tooth ache, or when you are sick. Or in my case when you just don't feel like cooking up a storm and you are VERY lazy. Firstly, you need leftover rice... or just go cook rice. You need water and a pot. Put it together and let it boil. and boil... and boil until you get the texture you want. Figured out what it is? PORRIDGE! Simple and delicious. I remove the plain white porridge from the pot and into a bowl. I crack an egg and pour it inside the bowl together with the porridge and mix it in. Its not taking the spoon and stirring it. More like "fold" it in. A tip I learned from my dad. And don't worry, the egg will cook. And even if it doesn't, raw egg is alright. Then you mix in Marmite, its a yeast extract paste and it comes in a black bottle with yellow label and cap. Different people have different tastes. I don't mind Marmite whereas my brother's housemate doesn't like it. LOL! I can have Marmite soup and be happy... which is just Marmite mixed with hot water. And then VIOLA! DONE!!!! And this is how it looks like.... I know it doesn't look THAT appealing but its healthy and it does make you full (subject to the size of the bowl and your appetite) And if you don't like marmite then you can always put soya sauce and pepper for taste. I just think it doesn't cut it. Labels: health food |
